My Approach
As an empathetic, compassionate person I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship is key to acquiring a better understanding of yourself. In a confidential space, we can start to explore the events that brought you to your current situation and begin to analyse the thoughts, feelings and emotions which have become templates for life that are affecting the choices you make. It is often the case that simply becoming aware of ‘Why’ we make certain choices is enough to begin the process of change and prevent unhealthy adaptations from affecting you in the future.
How Trauma Affects Your Life
“Trauma is not what happens to you. Trauma is the internal wound that develops inside as a result of what happens to you.” – Gabor Mate
We may all experience traumatic events in childhood. Whether something extreme happens to you, such as assault, or whether you experienced stress at home, these external events can leave a lasting imprint on the person you become and how you forge relationships with other people. Anything that triggers your internal wound such as rejection, witnessing anger, isolation, feelings of abandonment etc, may reinforce difficult emotions and lead to maladaptive behaviours such as addictions, depression, or relationship issues.
Facilitating Powerful Transformative Change
As an UKCP accredited integrative psychotherapist specialising in trauma and PTSD, I take an eclectic approach to psychotherapy that allows me to work collaboratively with each client to ensure they receive therapy that is tailored to their specific needs thus giving them the best chance of learning and growing from their past experiences. I work with people experiencing a wide array of issues, such as bereavement, addiction, anxiety, eating disorders, phobias, domestic abuse, and much more. Keep reading for more information on how I work with a number of different problems as a psychotherapist specialising in trauma and PTSD.
Our First Consultation
Before beginning psychotherapy sessions, I offer a free 15 minute, no-obligation chat over the phone. This allows us to discuss why you are seeking therapy and help you to decide whether therapy is appropriate. Should we decide to proceed, we can discuss our first session, which can take place over Zoom or from my London based practice. There is no pressure if you decide not to proceed at this stage or take an alternative route. Equally, I will direct you elsewhere if I feel that other professional input would be more appropriate and beneficial.
Addiction
Addiction is a commonplace response to trauma. Certain substances or behaviours provide relief from painful emotions or generate pleasurable sensations that trauma has stopped us from feeling. Together we will explore the traumas that may be responsible for your addiction and help you arrive at a place where you are less likely to escape into maladapted addictive behaviours as a way of making yourself feel better.
Bereavement
Working with people and families going through bereavement and loss, whether that is due to ill health, tragedy or sudden death in difficult circumstances. We will work together through your feelings and emotions to ensure you receive the support you need and develop healthy coping habits, moving forward.
Relationships
All relationships, irrespective of whether those are with a partner, family or friends, can encounter various challenges, such as communication breakdowns, unresolved conflicts, loss of intimacy, trust issues, and difficulty adapting to life changes.
Couples therapy offers a supportive space to address these issues, fostering healthier communication, rebuilding trust, and nurturing a stronger emotional connection, leading to a more fulfilling partnership.
Anxiety
Anxiety can be overwhelming, impacting various aspects of life, from daily functioning to relationships and overall well-being. It may lead to constant worry, physical symptoms, and avoidance of certain situations. Therapy offers a safe space to explore triggers, develop coping strategies, and challenge negative thought patterns, empowering individuals to regain control and find peace amidst the storm of anxiety.
Depression
Depression is a complex mental health condition that can profoundly impact daily life. It may lead to feelings of sadness, worthlessness, hopelessness, and a loss of interest in once enjoyed activities. Sleep disturbances, appetite changes, and difficulty concentrating are common. Through our work we can explore these emotions, identify triggers, and develop ways for you to manage your emotions so you can live your life on your terms.

Therapy offers a safe space for healing and empowerment, helping survivors process emotions, rebuild self-esteem, and establish healthy boundaries. Through therapeutic support, individuals can break free from the cycle of abuse and reclaim their lives with newfound strength and resilience.
Eating Disorders

Therapy offers a safe, non-judgmental space to explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and foster meaningful connections, empowering clients to embrace their neurodiverse identity with confidence.
Phobias
Phobias are intense, irrational fears that can significantly impact daily life, limiting one's activities and causing distress. These overwhelming anxieties may stem from traumatic experiences or develop without apparent cause. Through therapy, you can address your phobias and desensitise triggers, empowering you to regain control and lead a fulfilling life.
Victims of War and Trafficking
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is profoundly experienced by survivors of war,and trafficked victims, haunting their lives long after the traumatic events. Its impact can be debilitating, causing flashbacks, nightmares, and emotional numbing. Therapy offers a space that provides an outlet to process trauma, alleviate symptoms, and rebuild resilience. Through compassionate therapy, individuals can begin to heal, reclaim their lives, and cultivate hope for the future.

Are you longing to rekindle that spark that once characterised your connection?
How Couples Therapy Works: Nurturing Relationships, Restoring Harmony
In couples therapy, I provide a supportive and non-judgmental space for you and your partner to explore the challenges and dynamics of your relationship. Through open communication and evidence-based techniques, I aim to promote understanding, strengthen emotional bonds, and enhance overall relationship satisfaction. By delving into the underlying patterns of behaviour and beliefs that may contribute to conflicts, I help couples develop healthier ways of relating, nurturing and restoring harmony by building a solid foundation for the future.
Mostly work is done with the couple but at times it may be helpful to have individual session/s to focus on particular issues. If I feel it is warranted and likely to benefit our work, we can discuss this as an option and only action with your mutual agreement.
I understand that every couple's journey is unique, and am committed to providing the guidance and support you need to rebuild your relationship, rediscover the joy of connection, and create a solid partnership that can withstand the tests of time. Contact me today to embark on this transformative journey towards a more fulfilling and harmonious relationship.
