Helping You Live in the Present

I am a UKCP accredited integrative psychotherapist specialising in trauma and PTSD with years of professional experience. My sessions over Zoom or from my London based private practice offer you a safe, calming space where you can openly explore the past events that influence your thoughts, emotions and behaviours in the present moment. Together we will develop ways to reduce the role trauma plays in your life, helping you to live more in the here and now. If you are looking to speak with a psychotherapist specialising in trauma and PTSD, get in touch with me to organise an initial consultation ahead of scheduling further sessions.

What is Trauma?

Trauma, derived from the ancient Greek word for 'wound,' refers to the impact of distressing events that overwhelm an individual's ability to cope. These external experiences can create internal wounds that shape one's perception of themselves, others, and the world, often restricting their full range of emotional experiences. Consequently, past traumas, whether from childhood or through life, manifest in our thoughts and behaviours and often give rise to challenging emotions such as anger, shame and guilt that can lead to anxiety and depression. These may also have resulted in the development of maladaptive behaviours such as sleep disorders, eating disorders, lashing out, self isolation and self harming addictive behaviours.

What Does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Mean?

PTSD is a psychological condition that can develop after experiencing a traumatic event, especially when it poses a significant threat to a person's mental or physical well-being. It arises from situations that evoke intense emotions of fear, helplessness and horror. Common symptoms of PTSD include recurrent memories or vivid flashbacks of the traumatic event, emotional detachment, heightened anxiety and avoidance of triggers associated with the trauma.

What is Attachment?

Our early attachments with primary caregivers profoundly influence how we perceive ourselves and engage with others. If negative attachment patterns were developed following adverse childhood experiences, they often manifest into adult interactions with friends, family, and colleagues. As we work together, we will explore the nature of your past attachments, understand their significance in your present life, and use a range of techniques tailored to help you mitigate any adverse effects. By personalising your therapeutic journey, we can empower you to break free from negative attachment dynamics and cultivate healthier relationships that positively impact your life.

If you have any further questions, get in touch by phone or send me an email outlining the nature of your issue/s.
